Basement Ceiling Drywall Installation in Queens

The Challenge
This Queens basement had an open, damaged ceiling. The old lath and plaster had failed, leaving joists, patched framing, armored electrical cable, junction boxes, and water pipes exposed overhead. The space looked unfinished, collected dust, and couldn’t be used as a proper room.

Our Approach
We closed in the ceiling with new drywall while keeping everything the building needs within reach:

  • Prepared and leveled the framing so the new ceiling sits flat
  • Hung new drywall panels across the full ceiling
  • Built around the existing pipe run near the doorway rather than relocating it
  • Installed a flush access panel so plumbing and utilities can still be serviced without cutting into the finished ceiling
  • Taped, spackled, and sanded all seams and corners
  • Patched the surrounding wall surfaces where they met the new ceiling

The Result
The basement now has a clean, continuous ceiling that’s ready for paint. The access panel means future repairs won’t require tearing anything out.
